Purr Petite

Purr Petite had been operating for over a decade in Calgary’s Kensington neighbourhood when we started designing the Mission location. We wanted to refresh the Purr Petite brand while still emulating the feelings of whimsy and warmth embodied in the flagship store.

Much of our design for Purr Petite centres around handmade elements that create beautiful layers of texture and provide a playful, approachable space that engages children and adults alike. Warm, colourful halfmoon tiles provide a focal point at the front counter (designed and handmade by our team) while custom wallpaper produced in collaboration with local artist Kelsey Fraser carries our whimsical attention to detail through to additional retail space in the back of the shop. Colourful plywood shapes on the ceiling not only create a sculptural fixture in the space but effectively hide unsightly HVAC and insulation, which wasn’t in the client’s budget to remove. 

These details, along with thoughtful modular shelving and ample builtin storage create a space that is functional and versatile as it sparks imagination and joy – a true representation of the Purr Petite brand and the products they carry.
